I taught myself photography whilst living in Paris in my early 20s. Having been handed an old Nikon FM2 SLR by my flat mate at the time (for something to do whilst looking for a job) I became inspired by the photography of French masters and the romance of the city I lived in. I went on to study photography at the University of Westminster but after a house fire left me without camera equipment or a portfolio, I was offered a chance to work on the other side of the lens as Photography Editor at House & Garden magazine, Condé Nast.
Having spent over twenty years as Photography Editor for numerous magazines and newspapers, including 12 years at The Independent newspaper, I am currently Creative Editor at the New Statesman magazine. I’m fascinated by the worlds of politics, international affairs and economics but capturing and appreciating the beauty of the natural, living breathing world has never been more important.
My photography is bought by both private clients and businesses and is hanging on walls around the world. I often work with my partner, an antiques dealer, to supply antique frames which create unique works of art.
